World-class R&D

To build safer cars, Toyota collects information from actual vehicle accidents to analyse their cause as well as the extent and nature of the injuries sustained. Toyota calls this process the "pursuit of real safety".

By analysing data from real accidents all over the world and then recreating such accidents in the laboratory, Toyota has been able to develop new technologies and test them on actual vehicles and crash-test dummies before offering them to the public in the company’s product line-up. This is an ongoing process through which Toyota continually seeks to improve safety technologies and reduce accidents.

Extensive crash-test research conducted at the company’s full-scale testing facilities –  Higashi-Fuji Technical Centre (Japan) and Toyota Technical Centre (Belgium) – helps us design cars, which can withstand a variety of collisions with car bodies that also lessen the injury to pedestrians.
