Petrol and diesel come at a price, and not just at the pump. Engines using these fuels emit greenhouse gases which contribute to climate change, as well as other harmful particles that pollute the atmosphere. As petrol and diesel will continue to power vehicles for the foreseeable future, we are dedicated to developing technologies that continuously reduce these emissions.
We have re-examined the whole structure of the internal combustion engine to find ways for petrol and diesel engines to burn less fuel more efficiently and without compromising performance. This has led to an enhanced offering of environmental technologies, which we call Toyota Optimal Drive.
Toyota Optimal Drive: minimising environmental impacts, maximising driving performance
No longer do customers have to choose between ‘green credentials’ and driving performance when buying conventional technologies like petrol or diesel.
By the end of 2009, up to 92% of the Toyota brand’s line-up had Toyota Optimal Drive as standard: a package of innovative environmental technologies that delivers a balance of reduced fuel consumption, low CO2 emissions and uncompromised driving pleasure.
