Our communities

As a company, we take pride in playing a strong role in the social, economic and environmental development of the communities in which we live, work and operate.

We aim to push critical issues to the top of society’s agenda by building partnerships with key stakeholders, and making social contributions, either in-kind or through financial support in close cooperation with non profit organisations.

In each case, we explore opportunities at both the local and pan-European levels, across three areas of shared interest to both Toyota and the community:

  1. Environmental Protection and Awareness
  2. Road Safety Awareness
  3. Technical Education for Young Adults

Who are our ‘stakeholders’?

We define our community of stakeholders in the broadest sense, whether at the local, regional, national or pan-European level.

On a pan-European level, we interact with government leaders, non-governmental organisations, research institutions, and opinion leaders, on our role as a good corporate citizen and on the sustainability challenges that we address. This is crucial if we are, as is our aim, to build strong and long-term partnerships with opinion leaders.

At the local level, Toyota’s subsidiaries, affiliated companies and employees work closely with non-profit and community organisations, schools and local government on a wide variety of initiatives. This engagement promotes close contact with stakeholders and helps foster a better understanding of local needs and expectations.

Toyota strongly supports these efforts and has created a decentralised decision-making process with a dedicated budget to allow each company to respond to the needs and demands of their own local communities.
